Grayson County Shelter Christmas Project:  The goal of this project is to provide Christian fellowship to the people living at the shelter and others in need. This wonderful evening will include a Christmas dinner, gifts for the children, door prizes, and entertainment.

Where:       FBC Fellowship Hall, decorated for Christmas

Who:          50 people who are living in the Grayson County Shelter and/or homeless people living on the street that the shelter will refer. Additional referrals from members helping with the project. 

The Need:  Team members who have a heart for the homeless of our community and will show their love by providing an amazing Christmas dinner experience.

Pancake Study Break at Grayson County College:  The goal of this project is to minister to the GCC on-campus student body by hosting a pancake study break. The pancake study break will take place the Sunday night before final exams at GCC.

The Need:   Team Members who are ready to serve college students who are away from the comfort of their hometowns while dealing with the stress that comes with enduring finals week.

Baby Shower for Expectant Teenage Moms:   The goal of this project is to show the love of Christ to a teenage girl who is expecting, while helping meet the physical needs that she and her new child may have. We will plan and participate in an All-Out baby shower for this young mother.

Who:          Expecting teenage moms

The Need:  Team members who are ready to love on a young woman, showing her grace and mercy in a time where judgment and condemnation are what she may know best.

Reaching the Forgotten:  The purpose of this project is to reach the people in our town who have been largely ignored and forgotten. We will take meals, winter jackets, and toys for children to the residents at the Cardinal Inn and the Las Casitas apartments (also known as "The Alamo"). We will simply be spending time with these folks, showing them that First Baptist loves and cares for them.

Sing Out Loud Carolers:   A caroling we’ll go as our team sings a few Christmas favorites in two venues. On Dec. 20th, we’ll join the Mauk Circle Team to sing for the seniors in residence there. On Dec. 15th, we’ll board the FBC bus to carol at the homes of the widowed of our church. On a day of your choice, we also need a few team members who are willing to visit FBC’s nursing home members to deliver care packages.

The Need:   Whether you have perfect pitch or just make a joyful noise, this team will have an appreciation and a heart for caring for those who have paved the way before us. Our team is open to children, teens, and adults, so it’s a perfect opportunity for families and individuals. While we hope team members can sing at all events, we welcome those who can only participate in one or two of them as well.

Housing Authority Project:   The Eastside Community Center will be abuzz with love and laughter as our team gathers with the children and their families for holiday festivities. We’ll provide bus transportation for each family to the Holiday Lights at Loy Lake Park. While they are waiting their turn, each child will enjoy Christmas music, crafts and a light meal in the community center with our team members.

The Need: Team members with a heart for ministering to the needs of struggling families.

Mauk Circle Senior Housing Project:   This outreach project will warm up the Mauk Circle Community Center as we minister to the seniors of this government housing division. At the center, we’ll provide refreshments for the seniors while our Sing Out Loud Carolers lead us in several Christmas favorites. We also will provide bus transportation for the seniors to the Holiday Lights at Loy Lake Park.

Need:        Team members with the heart to minister to seniors who live alone, many of whom will spend this Christmas season alone.

Hospice Connection:   The purpose of the Hospice project is to minister to terminally ill patients, their families and caretakers during the Christmas season.  This ministry will provide prayer support, meals and share the love of Jesus with them.  We will also be looking for other ways we might be of help to them during their time in need.

The Need:  Team members with a heart to bring comfort to families who are suffering great loss during the holiday season.

Jackets for Jackets:   Our team will be collecting new and used coats to help meet the needs of children in the Denison ISD. The team will work with the school district to ensure every child is warm this winter.

Who:          Students of DISD (3 years old through 12th grade)

The Need:  Members to drop off new or gently worn coats by the church office. We will then prepare the items to be distributed to local school.

Play Out Loud TMC Project:   The purpose of this project is to minister to sick children who are spending their holidays in the hospital. We will show the love of Christ by coloring, playing games, or just hanging out with these children. Each child will also receive a special age-appropriate gift.

Play Out Loud Boys & Girls Club Project: During the school's holiday break in December, we eill have a team go each day to begin to build relationships with the children who spend their afternoons at the clubs. We will have aspa days with the girls and play ball with the boys, but most importantly we will LOVE them! This will be the beginning of a year long LOL project where the FBC Youth will begin weekly visits.

The Need: Team Members who have a heart for kids who are experiencing illness during the holidays.

Christmas Tree Project:   Multiple teams will provide Christmas trees and related decorations for families with children who otherwise would not have a tree. The teams will not only deliver the tree, but will also be able to participate  with the family in decorating it. This allows time to better know the family and their daily struggles.

The Need:   Team members with a heart for serving those neighbors in our community who are economically challenged and who would otherwise spend Christmas without being able to make memories with their children around the Christmas tree.

Laundry Love: Laundry Love is an opportunity to help people who may be struggling financially by assisting them with the cost of doing their laundry. Relationships are built, and we hope to bless those we meet with more than the quarters we put into machines. Our desire is to identify and meet the needs of these laundry-mat patrons as we show Christ's love through this random act of kindness.

The Need: Team Members who can listen and carry on a conversation with a stranger, help fold clothes, and perhaps assist a child with homework.

Socks for Shut-ins: The purposeof this project is for our special needs ministry to reach out and provide a visit during the Christmas season to residents who have no family and to provide them with warm fuzzy socks as out gift to them.
