We love kids at First Baptist Denison!
We have two goals with our children’s ministry:
To immerse our kids in the love and knowledge of Jesus from their time in the nursery to the time they mature into adolescence.
To come alongside parents as they teach their children about God at home.
Sunday School - Sundays at 9:45 a.m.
Children from preschool to 4th grade gather together for “Shine Time” in the common children’s area (located on the second floor of the main building; enter through the office entrance). “Shine Time” is for singing and fun, before breaking up into individual classes: Pre-K, K-1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd-4th grade. In these classes, dedicated teachers introduce kids to the foundations of the faith—the books of the Bible, God’s great story, and the gospel—as kids connect with other kids who will support them along the way.
Children's Worship - Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
Kids (age 3 through 4th grade) begin worship with their parents in the sanctuary before being dismissed to children’s worship. At children’s worship, kids have their own worship experience, with music and age-appropriate activities to reinforce biblical truth and engage kids in living the way Jesus teaches.
Family Worship - 2nd & 5th Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
On the 2nd and 5th Sundays of the month, kids are invited into the worship service to worship with their families. This opportunity connects kids to their parents’ faith and other adults. Family worship on 2nd Sundays is kindergarten and up. Family worship on 5th Sundays also includes preschoolers. (Nursery for ages 2 and under is provided for every service).
Illuminate - Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
“Let your light shine!” That’s what Illuminate on Wednesdays is all about. A combination of music, games, and stories equips kids pre-K through 4th grade to shine at home, at school, and with their friends.
Nursery & Toddlers - Sundays & Wednesdays
Infants and toddlers through age 2 have a dedicated area just for them during Sunday school, worship, and Wednesday night. We believe no child is too young to begin to learn about God’s love for them. Little ones play and learn in a caring, safe environment made just for them.
This annual event takes place the Sunday following Easter weekend, and it’s big fun, including mini-train rides, inflatable games, face painting, and other fun for kids. There’s plenty of fun for the adults, too. For more information please visit our Block Party page.
Once per year, we offer a special opportunity for parents to publicly commit to raising their children to know and honor the Lord Jesus. We present each family before the church, pray and bless each child, and give each child a Bible or Bible story book that parents can read together with their children.
Summer camp is where kids get away to grow together and to grow closer to God… and have lots of fun! Kids camp 2023 is at Oakridge Camp June 19th - 22nd.
